Thank you for encouraging your child's participation in instrumental music! On this page you will find a variety of resources designed to inform parents and support students' experience in instrumental music.
This informational brochure provides parents with an overview of the Elementary Instrumental Music program in the Grosse Pointe Schools. It includes information on enrollment, instrument rental, keys to success (practice, commitment, private lessons, etc.), and FAQ's.
This video is shown to 4th grade students each spring to introduce the instruments, provide an overview of the Grosse Pointe Schools' Instrumental Music program grades 5-12, and encourage them to consider enrolling in 5th grade.
"Benefits of the Study of Music" was produced by MENC - the National Association for Music Education - to articulate why music education is so important in our childrens' lives. It explains how music education fosters "Success in Society, Success in Schools and Learning, Success in Developing Intelligence, and Success in Life."
