GPPSS Child Development and Preschool Program Teachers & Caregivers
Anastasia (Stacy) has 20 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. She has been everything from a teacher, director of a child care center and even worked in the corporate office. She enjoys watching and helping children learn and reach their greatest potential. Her hobbies include photography and cake decorating. She loves to capture the moment and to create a special, unique, one of a kind cakes for others.
Ms. Shelby C.
Shelby has her bachelor's degree in communcation from Wayne State. She has been a nanny for 8 years, and worked as a substitute teacher. She started at Barnes in 2017 in the Preschool class and is excited to spend time with the toddlers this year. In her free time, she loves to spend time with her family, boyfriend and dog!
Ms. Sara S.
Sara has been working at the early childhood level for five years, and started at Barnes in 2016. She graduated from Wayne State University with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood. Sara is excited to work alongside your children and watch them grow. In her free time, she loves going to concerts and spending time with family.
Prep and Preschool
Kim joined the Child Development and Preschool team in 2016. Kim graduated from Wayne State University in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education focusing on math. She is currently working on her Masters Degree from Wayne State in Early Childhood. Kim started her teaching career by student teaching in GPPSS in fifth grade and also taught second grade and reading and math intervention in the South Lake school district. In her free time she enjoys being on the lake, traveling to northern Michigan, fishing, walking her dog, and catching up with friends and family.
Elizabeth truly loves working with children of all ages. She feels fortunate to be in a profession where she is allowed to guide and observe children at such a fun and important developmental stage in their lives. She has many years of experience in Early Childhood. She has worked with children from 12 months to 5 years old. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood in 2013. Outside of school, Elizabeth enjoys riding her bike, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Ms. Danielle has over ten years of experience in early childhood. She has worked as a preschool teacher, a nanny and as a center director. She attended Macomb Community College and has an associate’s degree in early childhood education. Danielle has a passion for working with young children and is excited to be a part of GPPSS. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, hiking and watching Netflix.
Paige enjoys working with preschoolers and watching them grow. She looks forward to each school year! Communication is key for a positive learning environment. Paige graduated from Central Michigan University in May of 2016. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning. She completed her student teaching at Central Michigan’s Childhood Development Center with 3 and 4 year olds. Outside of school, she loves traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Cristina is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University. She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a ZS endorsement in Early Childhood Development and Learning. She’s certified in the state of Michigan to teach K-8th grade. Her passion is to work with kids of all ages and help them become the best they can be not only in a school setting, but also as an individual. In her free time she loves hanging out with her family, traveling, and working out.
Ms. Shelby K
Shelby is a graduate from Central Michigan University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning during the spring of 2014. Shelby joined the Trombly pre-k team in 2014 from northeastern Michigan. She began her early career working as a daycare assistant, childcare provider for toddlers and preschoolers, volunteer infant caregiver, and student taught at the Central Michigan University Child Development and Learning Lab. She has experience with children of all ages, and has been working with children for about 10 years.
Jennifer lives in Grosse Pointe with her husband and three daughters. Her two oldest attend Grosse Pointe South and the youngest attends Brownell Middle School. Prior to working in the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, she lived in Mandeville, Louisiana and acted as an instructional aide for emotionally impaired students for St. Tammary Parish schools. Jennifer would also lead small groups in speech and reading instruction. Her background is in psychology and sociology.
Half Day (Richard)
Laura is a proud Spartan, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from Michigan State University. She also earned a teaching certification from Oakland University. Laura has over 20 years of experience with children in many settings, from running her own home day care, to the kindergarten classroom as well as elementary classrooms. She is very excited to return to the classroom and help preschoolers explore their world. She lives in Chesterfield with her husband and has 5 adult children. In her free time, she likes to read, do puzzles and spending time at her cottage.
Half Day (Monteith)
Rachel has been teaching for 8 years, and is excited to be teaching Preschool. Previously, she taught kindergarten at St. Anne Catholic Grade School and has worked as a long term substitute teacher in the Grosse Pointe Public School System. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and is currently working on her Masters in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University. When she is not in the classroom, she loves spending time with her husband, Kelly and their 2 daughters: Emma and Zoey.
Sara joined the Grosse Pointe Public School System Child Development & Preschool Program in 2010. She has over 15 years of experience in the early childhood field. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Community Services from Michigan State University. She lives with her husband and two children in Grosse Pointe area. Both of her children have been part of the GPPSS Child Development & Preschool program from the start!
Ms. Jill- Assistant Director
Jill joined the district in 2012, with the start of the Infant and Toddler Child Development component of our preschool program. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Rochester College and spent 8 years working in the classroom with children. In 2014, she started working as Assistant Director and enjoys partnering with families during the earliest years of learning. Outside of school, she enjoys bike riding, reading and spending time with friends.
