GPPSS Child Development and Preschool Program Teachers & Caregivers
Anastasia (Stacy) has 20 years of experience working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school age children. She has been everything from a teacher, director of a child care center and even worked in the corporate office. She enjoys watching and helping children learn and reach their greatest potential. At home she has been married for over 20 years. She also has 2 children,Michael and Krysta, one is High School and the other in college. Her hobbies include photography and cake decorating. She loves to capture the moment and to create a special, unique, one of a kind cakes for others.
Kristin brings with her six years of previous experience in early childhood education, a Bachelor's degree in Child Development and a passion for teaching. She cannot wait to share her love of learning with your children. She always knew she wanted to be a teacher. Outside of the workplace, she is likely to be found planning her next big adventure! She loves camping, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Neph has been with GPPSS Preschool since 2012. Overall, she has been in the early childhood field for the past 9 years. Neph is working on a degree in Education from Madonna University. She loves working with children and providing them with the tools needed to be successful in all aspects of their lives. Some of her hobbies include shopping, reading and traveling. She has two cats Pepe and Socks.
Barnes Prep and Preschool
Kim is very excited to be joining pre-school prep program for the 2016-2017 school year. Kim graduated from Wayne State University in 2011 with a Bachelor's of Arts in Elementary Education focusing on math. She is currently working on her Masters Degree from Wayne State in Early Childhood. Kim started her teaching career by student teaching in GPPSS in fifth grade. She most recently taught second grade and reading and math intervention in the South Lake school district. In her free time she enjoys being on the lake, traveling to northern Michigan, fishing, walking her dog, and catching up with friends and family.
Elizabeth truly loves working with children of all ages. She feels fortunate to be in a profession where she is allowed to guide and observe children at such a fun and important developmental stage in their lives. She has over 6 years of experience in Early Childhood. She has worked with children from 12 months to 5 years old. She earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood in 2013. Outside of school, Elizabeth enjoys riding my bike, baking, and spending time with family and friends.
Preschool Room (Ferry)
Beta graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Michigan State University in 2013. She majored in elementary education and minored in Language Arts. She student taught in both Lansing and Detroit Public Schools before coming to GPPSS. She is currently working on finishing her Master’s degree in Teaching and Curriculum and is thinking about going into Speech Pathology. She loves working with children of all different ages and backgrounds. Things she enjoys are spending time with family and friends, boating in the summer, going up north, and staying active.
Paige is so happy to have your child in her class. She enjoys working with preschoolers and watching them grow. She is anticipating a wonderful year. Communication is key for a positive learning environment. Paige graduated from Central Michigan University in May. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning. She completed her student teaching at Central Michigan’s Childhood Development Center with 3 and 4 year olds. Outside of school, she loves traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Ms. Danielle has ten years of experience in early childhood. She has worked as a preschool teacher, a nanny and most recently as a center director. She attended Macomb Community College and has an associate’s degree in early childhood education. Danielle has a passion for working with young children and is excited to be a part of GPPSS. In her free time she enjoys kayaking, hiking and watching Netflix.
Cristina is a recent graduate of Central Michigan University. She has a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a ZS endorsement in Early Childhood Development and Learning. She’s certified in the state of Michigan to teach K-8th grade. Her passion is to work with kids of all ages and help them become the best they can be not only in a school setting, but also as an individual. In her free time she loves hanging out with her family, traveling, and working out.
Shelby is a graduate from Central Michigan University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning during the spring of 2014. Shelby joined the Trombly pre-k team in 2014 from northeastern Michigan. She began her early career working as a daycare assistant, childcare provider for toddlers and preschoolers, volunteer infant caregiver, and student taught at the Central Michigan University Child Development and Learning Lab. She has experience with children of all ages, and has been working with children for about 10 years.
Jennifer lives in Grosse Pointe with her husband and three daughters. Her two oldest attend Grosse Pointe South and the youngest attends Brownell Middle School. Prior to working in the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, she lived in Mandeville, Louisiana and acted as an instructional aide for emotionally impaired students for St. Tammary Parish schools. Jennifer would also lead small groups in speech and reading instruction. Her background is in psychology and sociology.
Half Day (Richard)
Ashley is a graduate of Baker College with her degree in Elementary Education, as well as an early childhood endorsement. Ashley has three prior years of experience teaching preschool, and has been working with children in a variety of roles for over 20 years. Ashley lives in Grosse Pointe with her husband and two daughters. Outside of school she loves reading, gardening and camping.
Half Day (Monteith)
Rachel has been teaching for 8 years, and is excited for her first year teaching Preschool. Previously, she taught kindergarten at St. Anne Catholic Grade School and has worked as a long term substitute teacher in the Grosse Pointe Public School System. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and is currently working on her Masters in Early Childhood Education at Oakland University. When she is not in the classroom, she loves spending time with her husband, Kelly and their 2 daughters: Emma (7 years old) and Zoey (3 years old).
Sara joined the Grosse Pointe Public School System Child Development & Preschool Program in 2010. She has 15 years of experience in the early childhood field. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Community Services from Michigan State University. She lives with her husband and two children in Grosse Pointe area. Both of her children have been part of the GPPSS Child Development & Preschool program from the start!
Ms. Jill- Assistant Director
Jill joined the district in 2012, to help launch the Infant and Toddler Child Development component of our preschool program. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Rochester College and spent 8 years working in the classroom with children. In 2014, she started working as Assistant Director and enjoys partnering with families during the earliest years of learning. Outside of school, she enjoys bike riding, reading and spending time with friends.
