Subject: Re: GPPSS - Posting of Board Member Appointment Candidates (Redaction of Contact Information)
Per the board by law I am including all board members on this response
I believe Mr Fenton is following Board policy 8330 and 8350.
As a reminder, these are not candidates, they are applicants for a board vacancy. The Board of Education is charged with selecting the applicant to fill that vacancy.
The interviews will be televised and are open meetings, all community members are welcome to attend. At any time you can solicit input from the public.
The district has posted everyone's names, their applications and their letter of interest.
Again, this is the process that was used when Mr Walsh quit. We successfully filled his position with Mr Summwrfield. This is also the MASB process.
As a reminder please use district email when conducting district business

Why was the decision made to redact the contact information for the candidates from the applications posted? Under what section of what law was this decision mandated?
Clearly, the public deserves the right to contact the candidates with any questions they may have. Clearly, the candidates had no expectation or desire that this information would be kept private or they wouldn’t have provided it in the first place.
Please consider the negative spin this decision is putting on the mantra of being transparent and post this information as it should be so that the public has the means to contact these candidates if they so desire.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
