Grosse Pointe Public Schools Enrollment Process

  • Step One - Pre-Enrollment - Online

    Online enrollment is mandatory for all NEW students entering the district including:

    Dot New residents to the district
    Dot Kindergarten students by May 1
    Dot Young Fives by lottery 2020 Dates TBD
     
    Students that were previously GPPSS students and are returning to the school district after attending another school may proceed to Step Two

    Step Two - Enrollment - In person

    Bring ALL documentation in person to the Enrollment Office 389 St. Clair, Grosse Pointe, MI  48230

    Faxed or photocopied documents will NOT be accepted

    1. Printed Pre-Enrollment Sheet from Step One
    2. Original birth certificate, NO exceptions
    3. Immunizations records
    4. Vision Screening - Kindergarten and Young Fives only
    5. Most recent transcript/report card (if applicable)
    6. Court documents for specific instruction/restrictions for custody (if applicable)
    7. Spedial Education information or 504/IEP (if applicable)
    8. Residency Documents - no copies or faxed documents will be accepted
      1. Proof of Michigan Residency - Present ONE of the following with current address:
        • Michigan Driver's License (Not Expired)
        • Michigan State ID (Not Expired)
      2. Proof of Ownership - Present ONE of the following:
        • Homeowner:
          • Current Mortgage Statement
          • Current Property Tax Bill
          • Closing Statement (less than 2 months)
          • Warranty or Quit Claim Deed (less than 2 months)
        • Renter:
          • Signed Current Lease
          • Landlord Affidavit (notarized with expiration date on GPPSS form)
      3. Proof of Address - Present TWO of the following (issued within the last 30 days) can not be from the same vendor:
        • Gas/electric bill
        • Telephone or cellular phone bill
        • Cable or satellite TV bill
        • Renter's or homeowner's insurance policy
        • Bank or credit card statement
        • Current automobile registration or insurance policy/statement
        • No Water Bill

    Step Three - Pre-Registration - Online

    Before school begins, the pre-registration process is mandatory for all students. This process requires the parent and student to fill out specific school and district permission forms. There also is an opportunity to purchase gym uniforms, yearbooks and PTO memberships.

    Dot This step begins in August for all students.
    Dot If you are newly enrolled this step will follow Step Two up through May of the new year.

    Step Four - Registration - Student in person

    Registration is done in late August each year for secondary students. This follows online pre-registration. Students report to their school on the scheduled registration day to obtain class schedule assignments. Class schedules are not provided until the enrollment process is completed.
