Maire Elementary School
Mrs. Sonja Franchett
Dear Maire Community Parents and Students,
Welcome to Maire Elementary School. Located in the Village of Grosse Pointe, and established in 1936, our school has a long-standing tradition of excellence in education. Maire School is renown in the Grosse Pointe School District for its outstanding educational staff and dynamic parent organization (PTO.) This collaborative partnership ensures an optimal learning environment for all of the school’s 313 students. This past year, Maire was ranked at the 99th percentile for achievement in the State of Michigan.
Maire School has a well-defined and rigorous curriculum that challenges students to think critically. Teachers utilize technology and other differentiated instruction to engage students in personalized learning. Science and Social Studies are taught using both academic text and hands-on projects, to create deeper understanding of concepts. Each grade level participates in field trips to enhance the teaching and learning of students.
In addition to academics, our elementary school supports a clean and healthy environment through our “Evergreen status” from the State of Michigan. Our students engage in a Positive Behavior System to maintain a respectful, friendly and supportive social and emotional climate. Enrichment learning opportunities are numerous, and include Choir, Instrumental Music, Student Council, Safety and Service positions, Scouting and Knitting, along with lunch clubs for ceramics, gardening and science.
Maire School’s Diversity Committee focuses on projects and education for our stakeholders to enhance our school’s learning culture, as well as supporting parents throughout the district. We are welcoming and inclusive for ALL Maire students and families.
I invite you to contact me if you have questions about Maire Elementary School. We are proud of our achievements and welcome opportunities to promote our school!
