Liagre, Pamela / Spelling Test Procedures

Every Monday morning, students will have a pretest on the spelling words for the week. Each list will target a specific skill, such as vowel sounds, consonant clusters, diagraphs, compound words, etc. If there is one wrong on the test, your child needs to write that word ten times and turn it into us on Tuesday. If there are two or more wrong, then the current list is retaken.

If a child passes the pretest, it is expected that the ASSIST list will be used to assess spelling levels for the week. The ASSIST list is composed of sight vocabulary that increases in complexity on a continuum. These words appear in 92% of the words that your child will need to read and write.
