WHEN SHOULD I KEEP MY CHILD HOME OR CANCEL THERAPIES?
Staying Healthy
At Barnes, one of our goals is to keep our students happy and healthy. We would like your help to assist us with controlling the spread of illnesses among our students and staff.
When your child has symptoms of illness, please consult your physician and keep your child home from school. If you have staff that visit your house for therapies, please contact your therapist to cancel the session while your child is sick.
A child with the following symptoms should be kept home or miss therapies:
- temperature 99.6 or higher
- diarrhea (two or more loose stools)
- vomiting
- thick yellow/green drainage from the nose
- skin rash
- any type of communicable illness (pink eye, impetigo, ringworm, head lice, strep throat, etc.)
Please follow your physician's instructions or follow the recommendation that children should be symptom free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school.
Should a communicable illness be diagnosed, please inform us as well so that we are able to take precautions in our classroom. Our office is also required to report communicable diseases to the Health Department.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping the Barnes Early Childhood Center maintain healthy environments for all children. Thanks to our families that are already following these policies!
