DISCREPANCY EXPLANATION
DEFINITION: A discrepancy occurs when a teacher plans to assign a final grade that falls below the parameters of the district final grade range. Marking period grades count as two-fifths of the final grade and assessments count as one-fifth of the final grade. PURPOSE: To confirm that a course final grade is lower than the district final grade range parameter, a written discrepancy explanation with appropriate documentation must be submitted to the principal when grades are submitted. A discrepancy requires an explanation, not an approval.
