•  FYI- 5th graders normally have about 50-60 minutes of homework.  Make math your top priority.  Save Wordly Wise and reading for last.  You might be able to finish them in homeroom in the morning. If you work your hardest for 50 minutes (in a quiet room w/ no TV) and still can't finish, stop.  Have mom or dad write me a note.  Once in a while there'll be weekend homework, but as a general rule, I don't normally assign homework on the weekends or over vacations.  I consider that "family time."  I ask my students to put forth their best effort Mon-Fri, and then to relax.
